Advertising: A New Audio and Video Era
A new era in the digital age is taking the world by storm.
Audio and video are projected to replace the traditional use of text in the media. With platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, as well as popular podcasts, people now prefer watching and listening, rather than reading. We are making the switch from a text driven world to a “sights and sound” driven world. While text will not be eradicated from our media usage, it is far less popular given the ease and luxury of audio and visual content.
Multimedia at our Fingertips
The emergence of the smartphone has aided in the rise of audio and video production. Gone are the days where only big name studios had access to create multimedia content. In today’s day and age, everyone can become a creator. This new influx of tools and technology allows anyone with the time and interest to create whichever form of multimedia they choose. Social media further enables us to share our content with friends, family, and strangers across the web. Content creators wishing to stand out among the crowd must employ these tools with savvy to maximize messaging.
Just the Start
It seems we have only just begun exploring the vast world of multimedia. Digital research firm ComScore projects that by the year 2020 “half of all searches will be done by voice”. While some are weary of the rise of audio and video, there is no denying the ease that comes along with it.
What the Future Holds
Multimedia is an ever changing platform. Trends will come and go as years pass and platforms will continuously update, develop, and progress to better fit our needs. We have just begun to open the door to the multimedia world. We do not know what innovations and possibilities lay ahead of us. In such a tech-heavy society, the possibilities are endless.
